On BIOEFFECT
  • How are cellular activators in BIOEFFECT™ different from other cellular activators?
The cellular activators in the BIOEFFECT™ products are unlike all other growth factors on the market because they are plant-made.. To date, all other companies that use cellular activators in their skin care products use proteins produced in bacteria (E. coli), hamster cells or yeast. Production of cellular activators in barley seeds ensures they are void of bacterial endotoxins, human infectious agents and other potential contaminations associated with production in conventional production hosts. By producing the cellular activators in plants, it is possible to achieve an unparalleled level of purity and activity.
  • Is EGF the only cellular activator used in the BIOEFFECT™ products?
No, BIOEFFECT‘s 30 DAY TREATMENT contains three cellular activators EGF, KGF and IL-1a that work in synergy on the two decisive layers of the skin, the epidermis and dermis. We are committed to continued research on the efficacy of cellular activators in cosmetics.
  • Is the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum the first skincare product to contain EGF cellular activator?
There are other products on the market which contain EGF cellular activator, however BIOEFFECT's ground-breaking serum is the first skin care product to contain EGF made in plants. Other products contain EGF grown in E.coli bacteria or animal cells, whereas production of EGF in barley ensures that the EGF is void of bacterial endotoxins, human infectious agents and other potential contaminations associated with conventional production hosts. BIOEFFECT‘s revolutionary green technology - which took more than 10 years in development - means it is possible to use a pure and more effective cellular activator in the serum, in turn optimising the positive effect on the skin.
  • Where can I buy the BIOEFFECT™ products?
The BIOEFFECT™ skin care products are available in most countries, either through retail or online. Refer to our list of distributors to find the BIOEFFECT distributor most convenient for you. Due to high import taxes, payable by the customer, BIOEFFECT is currently not being shipped to Brazil and Chile.
On BIOEFFECT EGF SERUM
  • Are fragrances added to the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum?
We strive to keep our products as pure as possible and no fragrances are added to the serum.
  • Are there any preservatives in BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM?
No preservatives are used in the production of BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM. We pride ourselves in only using those ingredients necessary to deliver the cellular activator in its most effective form.
  • Can I apply the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum anywhere on my body?
BIOEFFECT™ BODY INTENSIVE has been specially developed to help smooth, soften and firm the appearance of skin on the body. BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM can nevertheless be used on the body, although it was formulated particularly to target the fragile skin of the face, neck and eye contour area.
  • Can I put make-up over the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum?
It is fine to use make-up over the serum, but we recommend that you wait a least 10 minutes before applying the make up.
  • Can I use BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum during the day?
Yes, many users prefer to apply the serum on clean skin in the morning and some use it both day and night. It is advisable not to apply make-up or any other product within 10 minutes of using BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM, as it may interfere with the activity of the EGF cellular activator. The serum does not contain any sun protection so use of a separate sunscreen to protect from harmful UVA is recommended.
  • Does the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum help get rid of bags under the eyes?
Many users report that the serum‘s hydrating effect means sagging under the eyes is reduced and dark circles dramatically disappear as skin becomes smoother and the complexion more even.
  • How does BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM work on wrinkles?
BIOEFECT™ EGF SERUM contains EGF, a naturally occurring skin protein that can be thought of as the „conductor“ for skin cell renewal. EGF signals skin cells to speed up their renewal process and to increase the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in increased radiance and luminosity and reduction of the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • How long will the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum last?
If the serum is applied on the face and neck once a day, a 15 ml vial (the larger vial) should last about three months. You can expect a 4.5 ml vial to last about one month with regular use.
  • I have eczema. Is the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum suitable for me?
Although there have been no specific trials on sufferers of eczema or other difficult skin conditions, BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM's commitment to purity means that many such users are rewarded with very positive results.
  • I have recently been diagnosed with a skin disease. Can I still use the BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM?
Due to the general cellular activating properties of EGF we recommend that people who have, or have had, a medical history of skin diseases or other diseases that could potentially effect the skin, should consult their physician before using any "active" skin care product.
  • I notice that my skin gets slightly warm when I put BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum on. Why is that?
The warmth felt by some users after applying the BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM is a sign of the increased cell renewing activity taking place within the skin.
  • If I use the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum at night, do I need to apply a night cream afterwards?
No. BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM is a superlative moisturiser in its own right. It is possible that fatty/oily substances in traditional night creams may reduce the efficacy of the EGF cellular activator, we therefore recommend against using any other skin care products simultaneously.
  • Is BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum suitable for all skin types?
The formulation of the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum was specifically designed to maintain and stimulate the activity of the EGF cellular activator, independent of skin type. Studies reveal that the serum has an equally excellent impact on all types of skin, including even the most sensitive. Furthermore it only contains 9 ingredients and is void of known allergens.
  • Is BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum “organic“?
The BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM is scientifically developed, responsibly manufactured and contains only pure and safe ingredients. No preservatives, fragrances or colourants are added to the serum. The active ingredient, EGF cellular activator is produced in barley seeds, using gene technology in a green production system in Iceland. The serum is therefore a very pure and organic skin care product, however since gene technology and science form the foundation for the serum's production, it cannot by classified and certified "organic".
  • Is the BIOEFFECT™ EGF Serum moisturizing?
Yes. The combined effect of the EGF cellular activator and hyaluronic acid moisturise, nourish and soften the skin. BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM is particularly beneficial for dry and sensitive skin and numerous users have reported that their dry spots diminish as the skin becomes more fully hydrated.
  • I‘ve noticed I have developed some pimples after using BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM. Can the serum be causing them?
A small number of people report the formation of minor pimples when they begin using BIOEFFECT EGF SERUM. This may be due to the highly active ingredients causing increased cellular activity at the epidermis surface. Users normally find the pimples disappear after one or two weeks. If this is not the case please discontinue use and seek further advice.
  • What are the ingredients of the BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM?
Like your skin, the activity of proteins such as of the EGF cellular activator, is very sensitive to chemicals. The formulation of BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM is therefore exceptionally pure and it only contains ingredients, which protect and enhance the activity of the EGF cellular activator. Glycerin - For moisturizing effect. Aqua - Pure Icelandic spring water. Sodium hyalunorate - The salt of hyaluronic acid. A very moisturizing agent. On cellular activators & EGF
  • Are there are other cellular activators that can be used in skin care products?
Yes, more than 20 cellular activators have been associated with skin care products and cellular activators could possibly be used to combat hair loss and various skin problems. In fact BIOEFFECT‘s 30 DAY TREATMENT contains three cellular activators, EGF, KGF and IL-1a that work in synergy on the two decisive layers of the skin, the epidermis and dermis. We are committed to continued research on the efficacy of cellular activators in skin care products.
  • How are cellular activators produced in barley?
The Orfeus™ system developed by ORF Genetics uses barley seeds as mini-factories for cellular activators. Synthetic genes encoding human-like cellular activators are placed into the barley seeds, leading to the formation of a new strain of barley. This barley is identical to other barley plants except that it produces this new particular human-like protein in its seeds. After harvesting the seeds, the cellular activators are extracted and precise quality assurance testing is performed. This method results in production of purer and more active cellular activator than have previously been available on the skin care market.
  • Is EGF scientifically proven to work?
Yes. Apart from a wealth of scientific literature documenting the vital role of EGF in the internal renewal processes of skin cells, studies on users of BIOEFFECT™ EGF SERUM show substantial increase in skin moisture and elasticity and a reduction in visible fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Is it safe to use skin care products with ingredients made in genetically modified plants?
Yes. Proteins that are produced in genetically modified organisms are just like other proteins. The EGF cellular activator is natural to the human body and produced within every skin cell.
  • Is there a connection between EGF and cancer?
There is no indication that EGF causes abnormal cell proliferation and EGF and related cellular activators are considered completely safe in the concentration used in skin care products. There is an extensive battery of preclinical studies documenting that EGF does not induce genotoxicity, mutagenicity or cytotoxicity. No studies have linked EGF with malignant cell transformation leading to cancer. An overly active receptor for EGF is sometimes seen on the surface of tumour cells. When the receptor becomes overly active, it most often has become independent of EGF regulated signalling. There is no evidence indicating that EGF causes over-expression or mutations of the receptor.
  • Is there genetically modified barley in the serum?
Yes. Innovative gene technology that ORF Genetics has developed is the key to production of the EGF cellular activator. This revolutionary new system means sustainable, safe production with optimum efficacy can be used in skin care products. A patent pending gene technology is used to produce the EGF cellular activator within barley seeds. Other manufacturers produce their cellular activators in bacteria (E. coli), hamster cells, yeast or animal cells that may contain by-products generally considered undesirable in cosmetic products.
  • What are cellular activators?
Cellular activators (also called growth factors) are messenger proteins natural to the human body. Their function is to stimulate the renewal and specialization of cells. Each cellular activator has its own unique function and many of them play an important role in the biology of the skin.
  • What is EGF?
EGF stands for Epidermal Growth Factor and can be thought of as the „conductor“ for skin cell renewal. This cellular activator signals skin cells to speed up their renewal process and to increase the production of collagen and elastin.
  • What is IL-1a?
IL-1a stands for Interleukin 1a and dramatically improves the elasticity of the skin and maintains the skin‘s barrier to prevent unwanted substances from penetrating the skin and retain its moisture, especially with increasing age.
  • What is KGF?
KGF stands for Keratinocyte growth factor. KGF stimulates the renewal of keratinocytes, the predominant cell type in the epidermis. Research on advanced human skin models has shown that it can induce significant thickening of the skin.
